Puroresu Contest

Tournament Pick'em!!

Over the next five weeks, I will be holding a special contest to pick the tournament winners of three major tournaments taking place in Japan. You can enter each contest separately for a prize, but the person that gets the most points across all three tournaments gets a special Grand Prize! Here are the simple rules:

1. Tournament picks must be sent in by the night before the tournament starts. No picks sent in after the tournament has started will be accepted. Since injuries can happen, waiting until the last minute isn't a problem, but be sure you don't forget!

2. In order to qualify for the Grand Prize (entering in all three contests), you must note in your last entry (the G1 Climax) that you want to be entered into the Grand Prize. I will not be keeping track of which ones you have entered into, so be sure to let me know you entered into all three so I can tally your points. You may enter any of the tournaments individually to be eligible to the prize for that tournament, but unless you enter all three you will be not eligible for the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize winner will be the person that has the most points across all three tournaments, regardless of whether or not they won one of the other contests.

3. All three tournaments have no semi-finals. Rank the Blocks from first to last, you will get two points if you pick the Block winner correct and one point for every other placement you have correct (thought process being it is just as hard to pick the wrestler in 2nd as the one in 5th). You get four points if you pick the overall tournament winner correct. Maximum points per tournament is 16 for the All Japan tournament, 16 for the Zero-One MAX tournament, and 20 for the G1 Climax.

4. For each tournament, there is a tie-breaker. The tie-breaker is different for each tournament and will only be used if the winners have the same score. There will also be a Grand Prize tie-breaker just in case. For the tie-breakers, check below in the information for each tournament.

5. Normally, if there is a tie in points, the promotion automatically puts in a set ranking based on head to head match-ups. If at the end of the tournament there is a tie within the Block that is not qualified by the promotion, then points will be given for either placement (for example, if you had Tanahashi 3rd and Inoue 4th, and Inoue ties for 3rd with Otani, then you still get one point as Inoue is in the interchangeable 3rd/4th slot).

6. You can only submit one entry per tournament, if you submit more then one then only your first one will count. The only exception is if you have sent in an entry, and later it is announced a wrestler will miss the tournament, then you may send in one replacement entry to reflect the tournament changes prior to the tournament starting. Once the tournament starts, even if a wrestler is injured, no change of entry will be accepted.

I have gotten a few entries that were missing a few things and I've had a few questions, so here is an example entry.

Submit your entries to purocentral@gmail.com with "Tournament Pick'em" in the Subject along with which tournament the entry is for. You can send your entries in three seperate emails, that is fine. If you want to be able to win in case of a tie, be sure to include the tie-breaker question which you can find below. Before the final tournament starts, for the entries eligible for the Grand Prize I will post the top five scores at that time so people will know what they need to do to win the Grand Prize.

Now that I got the official rules out of the way, here are the tournaments:

Tie-Breaker: How long will KAMIKAZE last against Togi Makabe on 7/29? (closest match time wins, going over is allowed)
Tie-Breaker: What will be the match time for Satoshi Kojima vs. Shinjiro Otani on 8/16? (closest wins, going over is not allowed)

Grand Prize Tie-Breaker (to be given in last tournament entry): The Greatest Golden League ends on August 15th. What will the match time of the final be? Closest wins, going over is allowed.

Course, I have to use match times as that is the only factor that can lead to a clear winner. Hopefully there will be no ties so it won't be an issue.

25 Dollars worth of DVDs from Chris at IVPVideos.com!

Grand Prize!

Sometimes it is hard to find a prize that everyone wants, so I found the perfect solution. The Grand Prize winner will get 50 Dollars worth of Puroresu DVDs free from any puroresu dealer! That includes Lynch, Ginnetty, Slam Bam Jam, IVPVideos.com, or any other puroresu dealer you use. The 50 dollar order must be made from one dealer in one transaction. Just email me the dealer and what you want, and I'll pay for it and have the dealer send it straight to you. That way, you can hand pick the events and promotions you want! The 50 dollar cap includes any applicable taxes and shipping, but if you go over a dollar I will not sweat it. Order must be made within a month of winning the Grand Prize. Good luck!
