2005 Recap:
Due to his busy movie career, AKIRA was not a regular for All Japan in 2005. When he did wrestle on the cards, he tended to stay towards the beginning of the card wrestling in tag matches. Even though he was not on every tour, he was still protected fairly well and enjoyed a fair amount of success.

2007 New Japan Recap:
After being away from New Japan for many years, AKIRA returned in September to join the new Legend-gun faction with other veterans. While he is not a contracted wrestler, he frequently tags with his faction mates against the other factions in New Japan. He has not had any major matches however and is not considered a threat to any of the titles.
