I won't lie, I am only reviewing this event for the last match. I love Ultimo Dragon, and I think that Sayama can still be really fun to watch. I decided to review the event before even watching the main event, so if it sucks, then don't hold it against me. We will also get a good look at Sayama's students, Tiger Shark and Super Tiger II. Here is the full card:

Akifumi Saito vs. Hayato Mashita
Punches by Mashita to start and he knocks down Saito with a short-armed lariat. Saito gets back up and slaps Mashita in the chest, snapmare by Saito and he kicks Mashita in the back. Saito applies a reverse chinlock but Mashita reverses it with a hammerlock. Saito manages to reverse it back and applies an armbar, but Mashita rolls through it. Mashita goes for a choke but Saito reverses positions with him and punches him repeatedly in the midsection. Mashita gets in the reverse mount position and goes for the armbreaker, but Saito blocks it and applies a cross kneelock. Mashita reaches the ropes however, but Saito pulls Mashita to the middle of the ring and kicks him in the legs. Back up, Mashita avoids an Saito charge and applies a front facelock on the mat. Saito gets in the mount position, Mashita applies a keylock and punches Saito in the face. Saito reverses positions with him and kicks him repeatedly in the leg, Achilles Heel Hold by Saito but Mashita quickly reaches the ropes to force a break. Back up Mashita kicks Saito back into the corner, snapmare, and he kicks Saito in the back. Mashita goes for the arm but Saito gets into the ropes, forcing a back. Back up, strikes by Mashita and he delivers a back kick. Mashita goes off the ropes but Saito catches him with a kick. Snapmare by Saito and he kicks Mashita hard in the back. Saito goes for the cross armbreaker but Mashita inches to the ropes to force the break. Saito picks up Mashita and applies a grounded front facelock, but Mashita gets out of it. Saito keeps on the body scissors however but Mashita gets out of that as well. Kicks to the arm by Saito but Mashita pushes him back against the ropes. They trade mid-kicks but Mashita delivers a slam. Mashita goes off the ropes but Saito delivers a trio of high kicks. Cover by Saito but it gets a two count. Saito again goes for the cross armbreaker and this time gets it locked in, but Mashita is too close to the ropes and gets his foot on the bottom one. Kicks to the arm by Saito, he goes off the ropes but Mashita hits a lariat. Mashita circles Saito and kicks him hard in the face, cover, but it gets a two count. Mashita picks up Saito and delivers a backdrop suplex, cover, and he picks up the three count. Your winner: Hayato Mashita

Match Thoughts: I just realized that reviewing a promotion that has shoot-style matches might not be a great idea, since I don't really like shoot-style matches. Too late to stop now though. Even by shoot-style standards this seemed pretty average and tame, but that is to be expected as they are both young and learning their craft. They both debuted in Real Japan the year before in September, so in a way this was their one year anniversary match. The ending came out of nowhere a bit as Saito had been dominating the match and Mashita's work hadn't been on the head or neck aside from a few lariats, but shoot-style matches do sometimes end with little warning so its not terribly uncommon. I won't say it was actively bad, but it was actively boring me out of my skull and it didn't have any type of storyline I noticed that I could get interested in. Score: 3.5

Gran Hamada and Kendo Nagasaki (British Version) vs. HARASHIMA and KUDO
Whoa, British Kendo Nagasaki. HARASHIMA and Nagasaki start things off. Tie-up, Nagasaki pushes HARASHIMA back into the ropes and he chops HARASHIMA in the chest before backing off. Kick to the stomach by HARASHIMA and he applies a side headlock, Nagasaki Irish whips out of it and the two collide. HARASHIMA goes off the ropes and runs into Nagasaki again, now Nagasaki goes off the ropes and slams into HARASHIMA but HARASHIMA doesn't go down. They trade elbows, kicks to the face by HARASHIMA, Irish whip, but Nagasaki avoids a HARASHIMA kick and delivers a hard lariat. HARASHIMA rolls to the corner and tags in KUDO, so Nagasaki tags in Hamada. KUDO and Hamada circle each other, waistlock by Hamada but KUDO gets out of it and the two trade holds. Armbar by Hamada but KUDO gets out of it and both men return to their feet. Takedown by Hamada and he applies an ankle hold, but KUDO gets a hand on the ropes. Back up, side headlock by Hamada, KUDO Irish whips out of it but Hamada shoulderblocks him to the mat. Armdrag by Hamada but KUDO delivers a dropkick. Kick to the stomach by KUDO, Irish whip from the corner, reversed, and Hamada hits a lariat followed by a tornado DDT. Hamada picks up KUDO and makes the tag to Nagasaki. Chop by Nagasaki, but KUDO returns fire. KUDO goes for a kick, Nagasaki catches it and laughs at KUDO, but KUDO shuts him up by kicking him down with his other foot. Silly Brit. KUDO tags in HARASHIMA, HARASHIMA picks up Nagasaki, Irish whip from the corner and he (with KUDO) hits a double slingshot elbow drop. HARASHIMA picks up Nagasaki, scoop slam, cover, but it gets a two count. HARASHIMA picks up Nagasaki again, snapmare, and he kicks Nagasaki in the back. Snapmare again by HARASHIMA and he gives Nagasaki another kick to the back. Leg drop by HARASHIMA, cover, but it gets a two count.

HARASHIMA picks up Nagasaki but Nagasaki rakes his eyes and kicks him low. Nagasaki throws HARASHIMA in the corner and tags in Hamada, Irish whip by Hamada and he delivers a lariat. Hamada picks up HARASHIMA and knocks him back into the corner, Irish whip, reversed, but Hamada kicks HARASHIMA when he charges in and hits a heel kick. Backdrop suplex by Hamada and he hits a low altitude lariat. Hamada tags Nagasaki back in, Nagasaki picks up HARASHIMA and slams him to the mat. Running senton by Nagasaki, cover, but it gets a two count. Nagasaki throws HARASHIMA into the corner and hits a series of chops, Irish whip, and he connects with a running lariat followed by a bulldog. Cover, but HARASHIMA gets a shoulder up. Nagasaki tags in Hamada, who elbows HARASHIMA in the stomach. Uppercuts by Hamada, he picks up HARASHIMA, scoop slam, and he drops the elbow. Cover, but it gets a two count. Irish whip by Hamada from the corner and he delivers a lariat. Hamada puts HARASHIMA onto the top turnbuckle, joins him, and nails the Frankensteiner. Cover, but HARASHIMA kicks out. Hamada tags in Nagasaki, double Irish whip to HARASHIMA and they chop him to the mat. Nagasaki picks up HARASHIMA and hits a vertical suplex, cover, but HARASHIMA gets a shoulder up. Back up, elbows by Nagasaki but HARASHIMA catches his lariat and sneaks in a backslide for a two count. Buzzsaw Kick by HARASHIMA and he manages to tag in KUDO. KUDO comes in the ring with a springboard elbow strike, Irish whip by KUDO from the corner, reversed, but KUDO moves when Nagasaki charges in and hits a swandive body press for a two count. Back up they trade elbows, Nagasaki goes off the ropes but KUDO catches him with an elbow followed by a dropkick. KUDO picks up Nagasaki and hits the Falcon Arrow, cover, but Hamada breaks it up. HARASHIMA comes in the ring, double Irish whip to Nagasaki and they both deliver enzigieris. Cover, but Nagasaki gets a shoulder up. KUDO picks up Nagasaki and delivers a dropkick in the corner, he goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits the Top Rope Double Knee Drop to the standing Nagasaki. Cover, but Hamada breaks it up. High kick by HARASHIMA and he hits the Lungblower onto Nagasaki, KUDO then goes up to the top turnbuckle and nails a Top Rope Double Knee Drop. Cover, and KUDO picks up the three count. Your winners: HARASHIMA and KUDO

Match Thoughts: I was completely rooting for the old guys. So was the crowd. I hadn't seen British (the original) Nagasaki, but he still busts his ass and he took some pretty nice shots for someone his age. I guess not wrestling regularly for decades helps you stay healthy. The young guys did well and didn't pull any shots, and my fear they would go soft on the oldies definitely didn't happen. I was surprised by this match as it was very entertaining as the crowd chanted for Nagasaki (who most I can assume had never seen him before) as he showed so much personality and willingness to fight that you just had to root for him. A living legend indeed. I enjoyed this way too much, but it was so much fun. Score: 7.0

"Kamen Shooter" Super Rider and Munenori Sawa vs. Masao Orihara and Tiger Shark
They brawl to start the match, taking the fight outside the ring. Tiger Shark gets the better of Sawa and hits him with a chair while Orihara throws Super Rider into the ring post. Orihara slides Super Rider back into the ring where Tiger Shark meets him, double Irish whip to Super Rider and they deliver a double chop followed by a double flapjack. Cover, but Orihara but it gets a two count. Tiger Shark kicks Super Rider in the chest while Orihara holds him, he then goes off the ropes and hits a Shining Wizard. Cover by Orihara but again it gets two. Orihara picks up Super Rider, and both he and Tiger Shark hit a series of strikes. Tiger Shark goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits a flying crossbody, Orihara covers him but Sawa runs in and kicks Orihara. Double Irish whip to Sawa but he rolls under the lariat attempt and knocks both of his opponents off their feet. Kick combination by Tiger Shark onto Sawa but Sawa fights back. Super Rider comes in the ring, double Irish whip to Tiger Shark and they deliver mid-kicks. Orihara comes in the ring, Irish whip by Sawa to Orihara from the corner, Super Rider hits a tope and Sawa follows with a lariat. Kicks by Super Rider onto Orihara, but Orihara manages to tag in Tiger Shark. Tiger Shark and Super Rider circle each other and trade strike attempts, takedown by Super Rider and they jockey for position on the mat. Tiger Shark goes for the cross armbreaker but Super Rider muscles out of it. Back kick by Tiger Shark onto Super Rider and he tags in Orihara. Orihara picks up Super Rider, double Irish whip and Super Rider is hit with a double lariat. Orihara picks up Super Rider again and Orihara holds Super Rider so that Tiger Shark can kick him in the chest. Headbutt by Orihara and he rakes Tiger Shark's face against the ropes. Orihara and Tiger Shark have a brief argument until Tiger Shark goes back out to the apron, and Orihara kicks Super Rider to the mat for the two count.

Back up, Orihara goes for a vertical suplex but Super Rider reverses it with a DDT and picks up a two count cover. Super Rider goes for the cross armbreaker but Orihara is too close to the ropes. Headbutts by Orihara, Tiger Shark runs in the ring, double Irish whip to the corner and they both hit lariats. Double Irish whip again and again they both lariat Super Rider in the corner. Tiger Shark is hovering still but finally leaves as Orihara puts Super Rider onto the top turnbuckle. He joins him, but Sawa runs in and kicks Orihara down. Orihara is stuck in the tree of woe, and Super Rider jumps off the top turnbuckle and hits a Ryder Kick onto Tiger Shark. Sawa comes in, he puts Orihara onto the top turnbuckle and hits an avalanche backdrop suplex. Super Rider then gets onto the top turnbuckle and delivers the Ryder Kick. Super Rider tags in Sawa as Orihara tags in Tiger Shark, and they trade elbows and slaps. Sawa gets the better of it with a quick kick to the head, cover, but Tiger Shark gets a hand on the bottom rope. Sawa picks up Tiger Shark and nails a windup punch, cover, but again it gets two. Sawa waits for Tiger Shark to get to his knee and goes for the Shining Wizard, but Tiger Shark ducks. Irish whip by Tiger Shark and he hits a diving double chop. Tiger Shark dropkicks Sawa into the corner and he hits a backbreaker. Standing moonsault by Tiger Shark, cover, but it gets two. Tiger Shark picks up Sawa and goes for a suplex, but Sawa gets out of it and applies the Octopus Hold until Orihara breaks it up. Back up, Tiger Shark goes for a vertical suplex but Sawa lands on his feet. Tiger Shark hits a low blow however, roll-up, but it gets a two count. Tiger Shark goes for a submission but Super Rider quickly breaks it up. Orihara takes care of Super Rider however, hitting an Asai Moonsault out on the floor. Back in the ring, Tiger Shark nails Sawa with a kick to the back of the head. Tiger Shark locks in the Shark Death Lock in the middle of the ring and Sawa has no choice but to submit! Your winners: Masao Orihara and Tiger Shark

Match Thoughts: Another fun match, Real Japan has gotten good at giving matches enough time to do what the wrestlers need to do without the match dragging on. Tiger Shark has really improved since I first saw him, and all four wrestlers looked solid. I do wish that Sawa had gotten a chance to do more as he is my favorite wrestler in the match, but the focus was more on "Kamen Shooter" Super Rider. Except Sawa I don't think that any of these wrestlers are anything more then solid at best at this point, but they worked well together, stayed focus, and had a crisp match. Score: 6.5

Daiju Takase vs. Super Tiger II
They circle each other to start, Takase goes for the arm but Super Tiger II rolls out of it. He goes for the arm again but Super Tiger II stops the cross armbreaker from being applied. Back up, they trade strike attempts with neither landing a clean blow. Super Tiger II connects with a slap and a kick after a moment and Takase falls to the mat. He returns to his feet at 5 and takes Super Tiger II down to the mat. Takase goes for the ankle of Super Tiger II and then goes back to the arm, but Super Tiger II prevents the cross armbreaker from being applied. Takase gets in the mount position and slaps at Super Tiger II, but Super Tiger II rolls out of it. Super Tiger II grabs Takase's ankle and goes for an achilles heel hold, but Takase blocks it and the two get back to their feet. Takase knees Super Tiger II into the corner, he then jumps onto the top rope and applies a hanging cross armbreaker over the top rope. The referee finally gets him to break the hold and he slides back in the ring, kicks to the arm by Takase and he knees Super Tiger II in the stomach. Standing armbar by Takase but Super Tiger II rolls out of it and delivers a back kick. The referee starts his count but Super Tiger II hits an elbow drop followed b a leg drop. Cover, but it gets a two count. Kick to the back by Super Tiger II and he goes for a kick to the front, but Takase catches his leg and applies a leg submission hold. Side headlock by Takase, Super Tiger II struggles to his feet but Takase takes him back to the mat. Back up, waistlock by Takase and he hits a German suplex. Takase picks up Super Tiger II and applies a waistlock, but Super Tiger II elbows out of it. Spinning jumping heel kick by Super Tiger II, Takase gets on one knee but Super Tiger II quickly nails a running back kick. Super Tiger II applies a modified STF. The referee checks on Takase and calls for the bell! Your winner: Super Tiger II

Match Thoughts: As I have mentioned already I am not a big fan of shoot-style, I like a little more flashiness in my wrestling and its just a little too random and slow for my taste. So the first half was slow, but I did enjoy the end as Super Tiger II hit his different variation of kicks very solidly and the sudden ending fit in with the general theory that the right submission locked in can end a match at any time. The leg drop was really random and seemed extremely against what the rest of the match seemed to be trying to do, but it was only a brief lapse before they went back to what they were doing. Super Tiger II seems to have improved since the last time I saw him and the match wasn't bad, it was just a little slow for the bulk of it. Score: 5.0

Yoshihiro Takayama and Alexander Otsuka vs. Yuki Ishikawa and Mitsuya Nagai
Otsuka and Nagai start things off. They jockey for position, Nagai gets a hold of Otsuka's leg but Otsuka rolls out of it. Kick to the leg by Nagai, waistlock by Otsuka and he takes Nagai to the mat, but Nagai gets in better position and applies a keylock. Otsuka gets to the ropes to force the break, and Nagai tags in Ishikawa. Ishikawa twists on Otsuka's arm but Otsuka applies a waistlock. Ishikawa gets out of it and applies a cross kneelock, but Otsuka grabs the leg as well and they struggle for control. They trade slaps, headbutt by Otsuka and he manages to tag in Takayama. Takayama waits for Ishikawa to get up, and Ishikawa slaps Takayama in the face. Takayama takes Ishikawa to the mat and goes for the cross armbreaker, but Ishikawa gets his foot on the bottom rope. Back up, Ishikawa goes to his back and tries to kick Takayama in the leg, but Takayama pounces down on him and gets in the mount position. Ishikawa gets out of it and applies an achilles heel hold, but Takayama makes it to the ropes. Ishikawa tags in Nagai, who twists on Takayama's ankle. Leg drop to the leg by Nagai and he begins twisting it again, but Takayama kicks out of it. Back up they trade elbows, knees by Takayama, Nagai pushes him into the ropes and gives Takayama a series of elbows followed by kicks to the chest which sends Takayama to the mat. Takayama manages to push Nagai back but Nagai tags in Ishikawa. Ishikawa and Takayama trade elbows and punches, but Ishikawa delivers an enzigieri. Cover, but Takayama is too close to the ropes. Ishikawa picks up Takayama but Takayama knees him in the stomach and tags in Otsuka. Otsuka picks up Ishikawa and hits a delayed vertical suplex, cover, but it gets a two count. Otsuka applies an armbar, Ishikawa tries to get out of it, Otsuka switches the hold to a leg lock but Ishikawa grabs his leg as well and they roll into the ropes. Ishikawa maintains the advantage and applies a modified figure four leg lock, but Otsuka makes it to the ropes. Ishikawa puts Otsuka in a single leg crab hold but Takayama breaks it up. Ishikawa tags in Nagai, Nagai pulls Otsuka to the middle of the ring and applies a leg submission. Otsuka tries to headbutt his way out of it, but Nagai keeps it applies. A slap to the face pisses off Nagai, however, so he releases the hold and punches Otsuka hard in the face.

Nagai tags in Ishikawa, Ishikawa waits for Otsuka to get back up, but Otsuka manages to push Ishikawa back to his corner and makes the tag to Takayama. Irish whip by Takayama and Ishikawa falls out of the ring, but Takayama goes out after him and hits a double ax handle from the apron. Knees by Takayama near the crowd and he throws Ishikawa into the rows of chairs. Takayama gets back into the ring and Ishikawa follows after a moment, but Takayama grabs him when he gets on the apron. Ishikawa hits an armbreaker over the top rope before getting back into the ring, and he applies the seated armbar. Otsuka breaks it up however, punches by Ishikawa but Takayama comes back with elbows. Takayama tags in Nagai, waistlock by Nagai and he rolls up Ishikawa for a two count. Otsuka picks up Ishikawa, Irish whip, and he hits a spinebuster. Giant Swing by Otsuka and he applies a single leg crab hold to Ishikawa. Ishikawa crawls his way to the ropes and reaches them to force a break. Otsuka picks up Ishikawa, waistlock, but Ishikawa blocks the suplex attempt and applies an ankle hold. Otsuka gets to the ropes however and Ishikawa has to release the hold. Ishikawa picks up Otsuka but Otsuka fights him off and the two trade blows. Otsuka tries to get closer to the ropes but Ishikawa grabs him and delivers a backdrop suplex before tagging in Nagai. Nagai picks up Otsuka, Irish whip, and he hits a running back elbow strike. Double armed suplex by Nagai, cover, but it gets a two count. Dragon Sleeper by Nagai but Takayama breaks it up. Nagai picks up Otsuka, he goes off the ropes but Otsuka catches him when he goes for a kick and delivers a suplex. This gives Otsuka time to tag in Takayama, Takayama charges Nagai but Nagai moves and kicks Takayama in the corner. Vertical suplex by Nagai onto Takayama, cover, but it gets a two count. Nagai picks up Takayama and the two trade elbows, Takayama goes for a kick but Nagai catches it and nails a capture suplex! Cover, but Otsuka breaks it up. Elbow by Nagai and he goes off the ropes, but Takayama knocks him back with a boot followed by a backdrop suplex. Takayama waits for Nagai to get slightly up before delivering a running knee, cover, but it gets a two count. Otsuka comes in to help and hits a brainbuster onto Nagai, Takayama then picks him up and nails the German Suplex Hold for the three count! Your winners: Yoshihiro Takayama and Alexander Otsuka

Match Thoughts: Not bad. The last five minutes I enjoyed as it was more the wrestling style I prefer, as the first 10 were pretty slow and uneventful as they mostly just traded submissions and locked in leg locks. When did Nagai get awesome? I must have missed something, but watching him win exchange after exchange with Takayama was impressive. All the wrestlers looked solid, I don't see Otsuka too often so that was a nice treat as well. Even though Nagai had been winning most the match, he took some really solid shots in the last 30 seconds so him getting pinned didn't seem sudden or too soon. The end really helped the match for me even though it started slow, and it was a pretty good match overall. Score: 6.0

First Tiger Mask vs. Ultimo Dragon
Ultimo Dragon was accompanied by Great Sasuke, who held the ropes open for him. Sayama came into the ring over the top turnbuckle, which at his size is no small feat. They circle each other to start, Ultimo Dragon goes for a kick but Tiger Mask catches and and sweeps him to the mat. Ultimo Dragon rolls out of the ring, Tiger Mask goes to do a dive but Ultimo Dragon goes to a different part of the floor and Tiger Mask thinks better of it. Back in the ring, Tiger Spin by Tiger Mask and he goes for Ultimo Dragon's leg, but Ultimo Dragon gets a hand on the bottom rope. The referee kicks his hand away, but Ultimo Dragon gets his entire arm around the rope so the referee allows the break. Back up, Irish whip by Tiger Mask and he hits an armdrag, Ultimo Dragon is back up, goes off the ropes, but Tiger Mask avoids his attack and two trade reversals with neither getting the advantage. Tie-up, knuckle lock by Ultimo Dragon but Tiger Mask hits a headstand headscissors to get out of it. Waistlock by Ultimo Dragon, snapmare, and he applies a headscissors on the mat. Tiger Mask flips out of the headscissors however, tie-up, wristlock by Ultimo Dragon but Tiger Mask gets out of it with a kick. Ultimo Dragon kicks him back, snapmare, and he applies a stretch hold. Reverse chinlock by Ultimo Dragon and he applies a headscissors. Elbow drops to the back by Ultimo Dragon and he applies the Indian Lock. Ultimo Dragon picks up Tiger Mask and throws him out of the ring before joining him before throwing him into the apron. Ultimo Dragon slams Tiger Mask into the apron again and kicks him repeatedly in the leg. Ultimo Dragon slides Tiger Mask back into the ring and knees him in the ribs. Tiger Feint Kick by Ultimo Dragon, cover, but it gets a two count. Back up, Ultimo Dragon dropkicks Tiger Mask out of the ring, he then sails out onto him with a pescado. Ultimo Dragon gets back into the ring and Tiger Mask slowly follows, Ultimo Dragon goes for a powerbomb but Tiger Mask backdrops out of it. DDT by Tiger Mask, he picks up Ultimo Dragon and delivers a tombstone piledriver. Tiger Mask goes up to the top turnbuckle but Ultimo Dragon rolls out of the way of the diving headbutt. La Magistral by Ultimo Dragon, but Tiger Mask gets a shoulder up. Ultimo Dragon applies it again, but again he only gets a two count. Back up, Ultimo Dragon goes for his kick combination but Tiger Mask avoids the last back kick and then hits Ultimo Dragon with a kick combination of his own. Tornado Kick by Tiger Mask, and Ultimo Dragon falls out of the ring. Ultimo Dragon gets back in the ring at 11, Tiger Mask grabs him while he is on the apron and goes for a suplex, but Ultimo Dragon lands on his feet. They trade holds, but Tiger Mask hits the Japanese Leg-Roll Clutch Hold and picks up the three count! Your winner: First Tiger Mask

Match Thoughts: Ah, another example of a dream match that happened at least a decade too late. I wasn't expecting anything super but I was hoping for something more along the lines of the Great Sasuke/Ultimo Dragon match from August of 2007 and this was certainly not that. An Ultimo Dragon match without an Asai Moonsault isn't an Ultimo Dragon match at all. Really though there wasn't too much to this match, this was more them coasting then trying to do anything memorable, which is a shame since they both can still bring it if they feel so inclined. I couldn't guess what lead to such a lackluster match, but there was little attempt to build suspense or tell a story at all, and the ending came out of nowhere (and didn't look that great anyway). It was fun for me to see these two as I like them both and they were crisp for the first half of the match, but then something clicked and they went into auto-pilot. Disappointing. Score: 5.0

Final Thoughts:

From top to bottom a very solid event. Unfortunately Ultimo/Sayama was a little short and meaningless, so unless you are a mark for one of them like I am the main event will do absolutely nothing for you. Luckily for me the event wasn't too shoot-style oriented, as I can take some of it, just not an entire card where every match is shoot-style. I don't hate all submissions or strikes, in fact I enjoy them in many cases, I just prefer matches not to only have stiff strikes and submissions which some shoot-style matches are. All the matches between the opening and main event ranged from good to very entertaining, and the semi-main was the best match in terms of strikes/submissions if shoot-style is what you are after. So I can definitely recommend this event, nothing on here will blow your mind but it has a nice variety of action and watching old Nagasaki was just too much fun.
