Owen Hart

Birthdate: May 7th, 1965
Death: May 23rd, 1999
Cause of Death: Owen Hart fell 80 feet in an accident prior to his match
Famous Matches and Storylines:  Owen had major feuds throughout his career against Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Ken Shamrock, Jushin Liger, and many others.  His biggest matches were perhaps against his brother Brett Hart, and their feud in WWF waged on through the early 90s, including a match at Wrestlemania X.  Prior to his WWF run, Owen was a popular wrestling in Japan, with his high flying style.

Major Titles HeldIWGP Lightweight Champion, WWF IC Champion, and the WWF Tag Team Champion
Other Notes:  At the 1999 Over the Edge PPV for WWF, Owen was to come down from the ceiling in a harness, since at the time he was wrestling as the Blue Blazer.  From stories told after the incident, it appears Owen didn't want to perform the stunt, but was convinced into it.  Before he descended, the harness either malfunctioned, or Owen panicked and accidentally hit the release (depending on who you believe).  Regardless of how it happened, it was a very tragic and sudden death for a great wrestler.  The Hart family took the WWF to court, and an 18 million dollar settlement was made.  It should be noted the fall was not seen on PPV by viewers, and there is no known footage of the fall.
