2005 Recap:
Unhappy with his stay in New Japan, in 2005 Shibata became a freelancer and began wrestling primarily for Big Mouth LOUD.  Big Mouth is a strong-style promotion that did not run many shows in 2005, forcing Shibata to work in NOAH and other smaller promotions as well.  In NOAH, on November 5th he teamed with KENTA to challenge for the GHC Tag Team Championship (which he lost).  Set to wrestle in New Japan in 2006 at the Tokyo Dome Show, Shibata is finally returning home once again.

Shibata defeated Tanahashi at the Tokyo Dome, but that was his last match in New Japan. He wrestled on several events in NOAH after that, but after wrestling only in Big Mouth LOUD he has since taken a break from puroresu and has been trying MMA. It is unknown at this time when or where his next puroresu match will be.
