The Best of the Super Jr. Tournament, started in 1988 and becoming annual in 1991, is a round robin tournament to crown the top Jr. Heavyweight in New Japan. The BOSJ (as it is usually abbreviated to) was the first Jr. Heavyweight tournament in Japan and established for most of the 90s that the top Jr. Heavyweight stars were in New Japan. The BOSJ is also unique in that New Japan frequently invites stars from other continents and unaffiliated wrestlers in Japan to participate. Starting in 1996, the wrestlers were split up into two blocks with the top two in each block going into the semi-finals. For the results below, from 1988 to 1995 they are listed in the order they came, and for 1996 onward the top row in Block A in order with Block B being the second row.
